Soil Conditions and Timing
ForeFront Ag Solutions prefers to soil sample in the spring. Soil conditions typically have a higher level of consistency April–June. We see the results of this consistency as we pull soil trend analysis reports for multiple years. Spring sampling allows us throughout the summer to see any nutrient deficiencies in the crop, and gives you several months to price fertilizer and to plan prior to the combines hitting the fields.
Soil Cores
We take multiple 6 inch soil cores within each management zone. On our probes, there is a depth gauge that enables consistent soil depth. Our personnel are trained, and use tablets and software to keep us coming back to the same spot year after year. This allows for consistent and accurate results.
As a grower, these steps have incredible value to you. When soil sampling is done improperly, it costs you either in excess fertilizer, or lack of fertilizer, which reduces yields. Either scenario is worth THOUSANDS of dollars off your bottom line.
