CORN - Health Flight - V4 to V-Tassel
Corn is starting to set the ear. It is a critical time to be above the field and in the field, looking for any kind of stress that would affect the ear. It is also around this time that a side-dress of Nitrogen is applied. We feed information into our Nitrogen model to estimate the corn needs, with the potential of utilizing your fertility dollars to the highest level.
Around this stage, corn is absorbing as much Nitrogen as possible. We will combine our flight results and our Nitrogen modeling tool to ground truth any Nitrogen issues. We will also be monitoring weather patterns for disease and insect issues.
Throughout the season we will be taking tissue samples, and periodically more soil samples, looking for nutrient deficiencies and ways to boost yields though foliar feeding. In-season soil samples will be looking at all 3 soil characteristics and how they change throughout the season.
